Hey, I'm currently selling my Quad 2.66GHz Woodcrest Mac Pro to fund a 2008 2.8GHz Octo.

My idea is to grab the octo and install a 4870 GFX card when they become available - the 2.8 octo that I'm getting has only the stock 2600 card.

Presently I'm running 2 displays, what I'm thinking is that the new 4870 can be used to drive one display using the DVI port and the 2600 can be used to drive the other again via DVI.

My question is will the machine default to using the 4870 for all GPU bound tasks?

For example with Aperture & Photoshop CS4?
