hi all i have been using the gfxcardstatus app on my 15" 2.2ghz 2011 mbp
and i installed istat an the temp on the gpu diode says around 5-10 degrees
is that fine since i am using integrated gfx only and havent used discrete gfx for about 2 weeks?

and is it fine not to use the discrete gfx for long periods of time or will it have a bad effect and not perform well when i do use it once i get win7 installed for some gaming?

The GPU diode temperature is not accurate when using the integrated GPU, that temperature is only accurate when the discrete gpu is active. For me the GPU diode says it usually just says "-" on iStat, but when the discrete GPU is active it is around the same temp as the GPU itself.

On another note, I wouldn't use that gfxcardstatus app, When I used it to only use the integrated GPU on battery, it caused a bunch of artifacting and screen errors/glitching on my 2011 MBP when waking up from sleep.

i dont have any of those issues with the app when waking from sleep thats strange
