Why would gfxcardstatus have any impact on a mid-2011 13" MBP with discrete only? (P.S. OSX = 10.6.8)

Logic says it would not, but I installed it on a whim just to see....I am consistently (doing basic Word 2011 and Safari 5.1 activities) seeing a 0.5 watt drop in my power usage (using Coconut).

I am certain there are many anomalies this discrepancy could be blamed on. But, it is always exactly .5, so it makes me wonder if there is something it does to further throttle the graphics processor.

Thoughts?

my power usage fluctuates by more than 0.5 watts during light use. I doubt gfxcardstatus has anything to do with it.

gfxcardstatus is open source, so you could have a look at the code and see what it does.

You mean integrated only, on your 13'' MBP, right?
