Hi,

Lately, I have something popping up in my Dock for a very short amount of time. I can't see what icon it is because it's already gone. I know it's there, because space is being made for in the Dock.

Is there any way to find out in some log what this could be?

Also, mac os x does not want to stay asleep. I put it to sleep before turning in myself and every morning the screen is fully lit.

I am always concerned about unauthorised access by third parties.
Thanks for any reply.

I doubt it's unauthorized access, but it would of course be good to know what it is. You can check the console.log (just open Console from the Utilities folder), my guess is something printer related or something you installed that's checking for updates. It's also likely the reason the computer is waking up.

Ok, thanks. Next event, I will look there.

It could also be something like an automatic check for updates, like Adobe does. When I open a .pdf file with an Adobe product, another icon pops up briefly in the dock, which is the Adobe Updater checking for updates, then it closes. It usually only appears for a second or two.
