Ghost image on desktop

When I select a photo or folder on the desktop, a ghost image of it pops up in the upper left corner of the screen. This "ghost" can be moved around, sometimes it disappears, but for the most part it's there whenever something's selected on the desktop.

Anyone have any idea what's causing this?
