Hi Folk's long time on here, my apologies for starting a new thread on this as im sure it's not the first about this,

Basically I am having pretty bad ghosting on my screen (rMBP), from what I'm aware its an LG and really starting to annoy me.

Should I take it to Apple? and how much would it cost me to rectify?

Many thanks!

Dave.

Take in into Apple, and if it passes the IR test (displays significant IR within about 10 minutes) they will replace the panel for free. Whether the new panel is Samsung or LG seems to be a lottery as well, but don't be afraid to replace it again if the problem remains. The only downside is the time you will waste without your computer.

please let us know what model your screen is by opening the terminal application and paste this command:

ioreg -lw0 | grep \"EDID\" | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6

Color LCD
LPxxxxxx-SJA1

does it say SAJ1 or SAJ2?

thanks for the reply. saj1 is indeed the worst panel, saj2 is still too early to tell.
samsung the best one so far.

youll almost certainly get a samsung. samsung does not have ghosting issues but can have dead pixels and yellow tint.

for some lucky ones it can take only a few hours, for others few days.

If I were you would take it to an Apple Store, you may get a replacement screen, but it may end up being an LG panel as there are no warranties on what you will get.

Yes, take it in if it bothers you. This issue has been beat to death. No offense but you don't need our permission or opinion on something you use and is yours!

Take it in.

You may have to be stubborn, when I took mine in they said it was "normal" behaviour for an IPS screen, but when I said it really wasn't acceptable for such an expensive machine who's main selling point is the screen to have such an issue, they agreed to swap it. No need to be rude, just stand your ground.

Got a Samsung screen, very happy now.
