Giant Poster w/ standard printer

I'm at a loss here...

I'm looking for a way to make a large poster from a digital picture with a standard printer. I would assume that there is a way to split up the picture into segments and print them off individually.

Any suggestions?

Do you use Mac OSX? If so this haps pretty much automatically. Try it.
Make a 6 foot wide sign and send it to the printer
