How do I get them to work once they're on my computer? And how can I get them to work in iMovie?

I am talking about GIFs not moving.

You'll have to open them with a web browser to see the movement. I'm not sure if there's a way to use them in iMovie, but I'd imagine it's possible.

I don't think that there is a "Gif viewer" on Macs. I can't remember exactly why but I think it's something with the OS core. They will play in PowerPoints though.

As Grakkle said, they'll play in a web browser such as Safari. QuickTime Pro might be able to convert them to something iMovie can use, if it can't use GIFs itself. :)
