Giga designs announced a new single and dual 1.8 G4 for older powermacs and cubes. Looks like they are running the 1.42 at 1.8 and then Ok's them and then warranties them. Interesting to see how far Cubes and Quicksilvers can be taken isnt it.http://gigadesigns.com

these upgrades are based on the 7447B G4 chip from freescale.

the 7448 G4 is due to begin sampling soon. with speeds up to 2ghz and 1mb level2 cache at processor speed compared to 512kb in the 7447's. so a dual 2ghz G4 could not be far away...

powerlogix has a daughtercard for their new upgrades which is designed for the 744x series of g4's. some features include dual independent power supply for each cpu, fan sensors, and less power draw/heat.

and with apple releasing a mac mini based on a g4 chip, then that means osX will support g4's and 32-bits for a long time. my digital audio tower could be in service on its 10th birthday!

bring it on.
