I'll soon be getting a working G4 400 AGP Gigabit Ethernet Mac.

I can also get a processor card from a G4 533 AGP Digital Audio Mac very cheaply.

Can I simply upgrade the 400 Mhz processor card with the 533 Mhz one? Both are NOT dual processor units.

I do know the bus speeds are different but will this work or do I need to change something else?

Thank-you.

Short answer - Maybe, but not without a lot of work.

Generally speaking G4 CPUs are only swappable within the same model, and even then they are not always compatible.

I've heard nothing to specifically say it can't be done, but I can almost guarantee that if you just plug it in and turn it on it won't work.

You are better off looking for a dual 500 CPU module from another Gigabit Ethernet.

Thank-you. It seems you've saved my a couple bucks and a whole bunch of headaches.
