Ok so this year I'm looking to make an extremely awesome carved pumpkin, and i don't want to free hand it this year. So the type of carve I'm doing is a 4 layer/color method, where the shading of the subject in the photo will act as the dimension in the carve. But to do this i need a photo to be changed to something like this:

i took this from a site but it didn't show how to do it :(

Yes! Now I have to get everything orange but I can figure that out, thanks

You'll also have to mess around with contrast and levels to get it accurate. And no need to change the color to orange either. A simple black and white image will do just fine.
