i'm having trouble getting Gimp 2.2.6 to work in Tiger. X11 launches, but when Gimp tries to launch the loading progress grey box displays above everything, but there is no text or progress bar or anything and nothing happens and i have to quit Gimp to get the grey box to go away. i installed 2.2.3 on my computer and was it working fine back when i had Panther. i installed Tiger and X11 from a clean rezeroed drive, and then reloaded my user folder from an external firewire drive, all done during the installation process. what i'm guessing is that i believe gimp installs some hidden .folders in your user directory when you first run it. copying my user directory from my external drive probably copied all that old 2.2.3 Gimp stuff which is now messing up 2.2.6. that's my theory anyway.

UPDATE: i decided to try a few things with my limited Terminal knowledge before clicking "submit new thread." using "ls -ax" i found there were a few hidden directories in my user folder that were related to Gimp but i think the one causing the problems was the font cache one. i did the "rm -R" to the lot of them which fixed my problem and Gimp booted up just fine. i now have a nice good feeling about myself. :p i'm going to post anyway in case other people have this problem and search for posts first like they should.
