What happened: girlfriend was trying to punch holes in her notes to put in a binder when the 3 hold puncher slipped from her grasp and landed partially on the ipad air that was sitting face up on the desk. There is no case on it yet bc otter box/ lifeproof don't have them out yet. We immediately checked to see if it turned on. Everything checked out good and display seemed normal and all.

Concern: I'm not too familiar with tech stuff, but could there be a possibility that some pixels or a bunch of pixels got partially damaged during the impact and will have a delay in showing the signs? Is there a way to check and see if the display and it's pixels are healthy?

Things I've noticed: very small detail but when using a note taking app, the screen leaves behind a small thin red line when deleting words that were underlined in red due to spellcheck. (This was using the notability app). It comes and goes, sometimes I get it and sometimes I do. When I do get the red residue line, it's usually in the area that the 3 hole puncher fell on.

Thank you very much!!

I know this isn't what you asked, and won't change what happened, but the Survivor cases are now out at Best Buy.

Hope it all works out for the best.

break up with her asap before she does it again and actually breaks your new iPad

You're thinking way too inside the box. You have to chain her up in the basement and make her watch drop test videos for the next six years so she learns.

That solution actually sounds more "inside the box" to me...because...well...ya

just 6 weeks? you're too optimistic. at least give her 2 months to learn

I hope you took the proper action and laid her down on the floor and dropped the three hole punch on her head. You have to teach women a lesson when they do idiotic things.

You worry too much. It's fine, relax.

If you don't have AppleCare+ on that iPad, you should probably go back and get it now.

Aren't three hole punches supposed to be used laying against a flat surface?

Infidelity is forgivable. Infanticide, patricide and matricide are a bit over the top, but...

Damaging a brand new iPad Air is a crime against humanity, and a three-hole punch is a weapon of mass destruction as defined under the Geneva Conventions.

Saddam owned one, and it is certain that Assad has one in his office.

Glad it all turned out OK. She has escaped trial in the Hague for now :D

You should 100% blame Apple for this issue. If they would not be so damn secretive MANY cases would have been available day one.

Haha wow woke up to some funny comments. Ipad seems fine still. I was just wondering is there a certain image or color that can reveal any weak or damaged pixels? Sorry if I'm completely talking about something non-existent.

Damn funny comments. I had my g/f over and wanted her to hold me new Air and my 3rd gen to see the difference and asked if her hands were clean and DRY. If she dropped something on it, I think I would have thrown her out of the house.

My bf wanted to hold my iPad Air and I told him NO, thats what the Apple Store is for.
