Hey everyone. This is one of those personal preference things, but for my tastes, I really think OS X hit it's zenith around the Tiger days. Pinstripes that weren't too intrusive, light greys, lots of colors, and throw in some brushed metal here and there. It was a hodgepodge, but it was also visually very interesting/intriguing.
I've never been a fan of Leopard's makeover. More and more programs are going to the grey-monolith style (almost a return to Platinum in OS 9 if you turn the color buttons/scroll bars off), and it all just blends into something that looks very stale. By contrast, Windows (for most of it's life an ugly duckling) in V7 has so much transparency and color everywhere that it's almost scary.
Is there any way to put the Aqua back in Leopard? I'm thinking along the lines of iTunes 6 kind of thing. With all aqua buttons and a lighter grey tone. See http://guides.macrumors.com/iTunes_Version_History#Supported_Media_Formats for an idea.
Thanks in advance for any help. I did try to search, but couldn't find much on the subject. Also, most theme programs seem to be dead in the water (ShapeShifter) or not supporting PPC these days (ThemePark).
