Give me your advice!

So i just received my replacement 3G from apple as mine was getting messed.

The iphone is currently running 3.1.3, question is should i upgrade it to 4.0 or keep it on 3.1.3?

The one im sending them back is running 4.0 and im just wondering what would you guys recommend?

3G, I would not install 4. The phone is almost too slow for 3 and most who have done 4 report even slower results.

I agree. Not enough upside and too much downside to update on a 3G.

Also, if you feel up to it, you could Jailbreak and get a fair amount of the functionality of 4.0 still with 3.X

Well mostly what im interested in is biteSMS really..

Is 3.1.3 with modem 5.12.01 unlockable also?

You can still add wallpapers to the home screen without actually running winterboard correct?
