By now, I'd imagine that most of us have seen Gizmodo's captured prototype of Apple's next-gen phone.

Assuming that the device does reveal the next iPhone's design, do you expect to see the iPod touch similarly refreshed this fall? Will September bring us blocky, industrialized iPods? Or will Apple take this opportunity to further differentiate their iPhone and iPod touch product lines?

You know I was really looking forward to last years refresh but it was such a minor update that I saw no benefit moving up from my 2g touch.

I hope this year sees more radical changes along similar lines to that of the wayward iPhone prototype with a new external design, HD screen, larger battery, cpu and ram upgrade hell even the mythical camera beast but I have a sinking feeling that with the iPad now a reality that the touch will take more of a backseat in the Apples mobile product line especially with the rumored possibility of smaller iPad models in the future.

IMHO the design distinction will be kept clear between the iPhone and the iPod touch. If the iPod does get a redesign (like I assume it will), I imagine it will share more design similarities with the iPad than the iPhone.

The iPod Touch will be re-designed this year. Apple is not going to let one of their top selling products keep the same design 3 years in a row. I expect new design, HD screen, longer battery, faster, camera.

some scoop...

The ipod touch is gonna be upgraded & redesigned...

Imagine the 4g prototype, thinner than that, replace the zirconia back (oops..) with an aluminum back with black logo of apple just like the ipad (to create a seamless look). but flatter.

But there may not be a camera, in front or the rear (categorisation of product levels) & max capacity bumped to 128gb.

Includes FM radio receiver & No transmitter.

Disclaimer: the opinions given are of my own. it does not have any relation to apple or its vendors or subsidaries. Any resemblence to actual product upcoming is purely coincidental.
