I'm thinking of buying a replacement back for my iPhone 4S, but I don't know if they're the same as the 4, with the new camera and whatnot.

Are they the same? Of course the flash plays a part in this as well.

I'm assuming they are exactly the same. Why are you going to buy a replacement, did you crack it? If you did, Apple will replace it for $29 at the Genius Bar, at least that's what they do with the iPhone 4.

No; I have the white one and I wanted to throw either a black back or a red back on there to switch it up a bit. They're only 20 bucks or so and you can easily switch them out.

Thanks for the info though; anybody know for sure?

One sure difference will be the model number (and other numbers) written at the bottom, although that's a minor detail.

Unless they've changed the anti-glare plastic window that covers the camera, the rest should be the same. I have heard, however, that the white paint used in the 4S has been improved since the 4 (resulting in purer white and no more 'thicker than black model' issues).

will they replace my black ip4 with a white back? that would be cool...i mean if i just buy one retail?

You will have to purchase a different screwdriver as the iPhone 4S has a weird screw head on it.
