Hey. I've been searching for a nice glass desk to display my mac. I've searched online and at OfficeMax, Staples, Ikea, and Best Buy without finding a desgin I really love.

What I like:
-clean, simple design
-glass top
-L-shaped configuration, though it is not necessary
-Lots of space for my monitors
-Mono-chromatic designs using only one color along with the glass (Specifically black with glass, or white with glass)
-Sturdiness
-Under $500
Examples that are nice, but not quite perfect:

What I don't like:
-overly adorned with pointless and tacky designs
-ugly colors, such as "almost black" and "almost chrome"
-stuff in the way of where my feet should go
-Examples:

Find an art major and have them make what you want. They get something for the portfolio, you get a desk.

Well I work at OfficeMax and I have really become familiar with the Sharper Image Collection of glass desks (both 'L' configuration). One of the collections is a design with I believe brown steel and gunmetal finish and it's really neat because you can re-configure it to be an L shape either way or you can just have the desk by itself. Only thing is you have to buy each piece. There's also a matching bookshelf and file cart that can go with it. And I believe the other one is a simple black steel frame with thick tempered glass, but I'm not too sure if it's reconfigurable. I do know they are nice and usually on sale. Right now Sharper Image is sending us a new chair or two, so keep your eyes open. Good luck with the hunt!

Glass desks are devilishly difficult to keep clean; they can look wonderful in a show room, but in a domestic, or office setting (unless you have cleaning staff to hand) they are incredibly demanding to ook after to a high standard. It's one of the reasons I prefer solid wood, which looks just as stylish, but is far easier to look after.
Cheers

Thanks for all the replies guys! I really appreciate it.
I'm definitely going to go for one of the desks at west elms, it is almost perfect.

I can only imagine how difficult it will be to keep clean, but in my opinion the look and functionality will outweigh the frequent cleanings.
