After installing a new video card (ATI HD4870) and upgrading from OS X Tiger to Snow Leopard, I get a recurring sound and mouse glitch upon start up, or even waking from sleep. It sounds like a hammering, perhaps like something is stuck in a loop; and while this hammering is coming through the speakers, I cannot click on any desktop icons, and navigating in general becomes very laborious. I can open any program available on my dock.
The noise and mouse glitching stops when I open and operate within Google Chrome though, as well as when I open Google Earth. However the noise and glitching does not cease when opening or operating with any other programs.. firefox, itunes, transmission, word, etc.
Has anyone run into this problem?
I appreciate any help you can give me.
Thank you.
I am running a 2009 Mac Pro, Dual Quad Core.
