phone>favs>hit the + to add new to favorites>brings up contacts hit the search>pick the person that should be added to favs, then it just closes out and returns to the homescreen.

Anyone same thing?

It's happened to me a few times. Not consistently though.

Close all your apps in the recently used apps list and then turn the phone off (with the slider switch, not the restart) and see if it still happens.

I read someone else on another forum having this problem with one specific contact in his phonebook. It was an imported contact, he made a new entry and deleted the imported one.

Same exact problem here. I made a thread about it as well. I tried restoring fresh but nothing seemed to help. Perhaps it's worth mentioning that my contacts are from google sync.
