Glitchy graphics on i7 MBP

Hello, I recently did an efi update(along with the other updates), and a little bit after, some of my word document icons were not rendered properly, they were very glitchy (if that's the right word). A day after, I saw similar problems with Safari. The previews for the top sites were a mess, some were very glitchy. Also the safari windows that were minimized randomly get messed up and turn all gltchy and I am unable to navigate through them. The document icon problem has gone away, but the safari problem is still there. Does anyone know what is causing this? Thanks

Could be the update, a virus is out of the question, there are currently no OS X viruses out in the wild, none.

Graphic artifacting usually has to do with overheating or failing graphics cards.
