I'm looking for an app of some kind that lets me control iTunes playback (play, pause, skip a song) from outside of iTunes. I've tried SizzlingKeys, which works great, but it doesn't work at all in games, which is the reason I downloaded it in the first place.

Do the dedicated play/pause, ff, rew keys on the top of your keyboard not work? Or am I missing something.

Those keys on the keyboard do not always control iTunes. For example, when I open up iPhoto, the ffm rew keys stop controlling iTunes and instead become used to navigate through my iPhoto library. I personally find that annoying.

To rectify that, I use the application "Bowtie" and it allows you to program universal shortcuts for iTunes.

Good point I forgot about that. I hate the VLC aspect of that as well. I've heard good things about Bowtie tho.
