I tried to include most options of attaching an Airtag to surfaces in one holder. If you have access to a 3D printer, feel free to use it: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4844511

(and if you need another method, tell me - maybe i can include that as well ;) )

This looks cool. I might need to get a 3d printer just get to do stuff like this. The screw mount is a good idea.

Ender 2? It's not exactly pretty, but tiny by FDM printer standards.
If you are European resident, you could consider a Prusa Mini.

Thanks, the Ender looks nice. I'm in the US.

Is there a specification I can use when shopping as to the resolution of a particular printer? How finely can it print?

Actually, no. Any printer will do 0,1mm layers, but that does not necessarily mean good parts quality. Print quality is very dependent on the specific model, so I recommend reading reviews such as on https://all3dp.com/

Don't you make me buy a 3D printer. I am quite responsive if I discover tech stuff which I am classifying as useful and good...

You should. 😛
Tbh, having owned one for several years, I consider a 3D printer as almost essential. Print any required item for your household.
I need to wait for the moment, our household urgently needs something, which is not available at any shop. Until then I would get in trouble as there is no reason to get another "machine thing"... 🤣

...an AirTag holder is not yet considered as "needed"
