Seems legit. Does it support the GMA X3100, along with the GMA 950?

I would be interested if someone could try it first, I don't have a MacBook anymore but if it really does help performance a lot, my brother might just get a previous generation MacBook and use this program instead of buying an AluBook.

I'm also curious but don't kid yourself. No GMA is ever gonna be worth money.

It supports the 950, but it doesn't say it supports the X3100, I don't know about the GMA series of GPUs as much as some people.

warranty

id gee it a go but if it duds my warranty then,,,,,mmmmmmm?

if it pops something do u think my apple care will b ok?

I think it should be... it is only a software patch so you should be able to take it off fairly easy, I would backup your data before doing it and go for it.

It says you will get atleast 2.4x better FPS in games with vertex shaders, while that certainly doesn't make the GMA 950 or GMA X3100 even a decent card, it certainly helps.

I did more research and people have reported getting about 7-15 more FPS in World of Warcraft on medium settings with the first generation, core duo MacBooks. Not bad, that gives about 20-25 FPS in World of Warcraft, medium settings.

ok tried it never noticed a difference on the things i use, (didnt help spore to work on it) so took it off again

Their FAQs say that it works by boosting the clock speed of the graphics chip.

I'd treat this like any other overclock.

Spore worked pretty well on my macbook w/ X3100 so its gonna run awesome on the 9400M.

does this GMA booster support the X3100 chip?

That's a very ambigious answer and no help to most as I think it may well support the x3100, because in windows it is refered to as the 945 chipset family along with when you go to download drivers for it off Intel, so possibly this should support it.

hmmm i want to try it, but when it asks what Mhz i want to set my chip too, it says the Intel GMA 950, not X3100, so I'm worried that it might do something weird if i use it. I'm not really all into this hardware stuff haha, so I'm waiting for someone else to try it before me, just to be on the safe side.

I e-mailed the developer of the GMA Booster and asked him directly if the Intel GMA X3100 was supported or not. This was his reply.

Hello,

Yes, I plan to support Intel 965 family. It seems like GMA X3100 may be
scaled from 266 up to 533 MHz! But there is an issue.
I personally have no devices based on this chipset, so I cannot do a quality
exploration (let say "HW disassembling") of the innards of chipset...
I already tried to work with remote testers. Negative experience. I have to
be able to run my HW probes 100 times a day if needed.
No remote tester could handle this. So, I dream to purchase a laptop which
is built on 965 family chipset...
Have either to collect enough donations, or get a suitable laptop as a donation.
