Gmail and iPhone?

So I recently started actually using the Gmail account that I had, instead of AOL. I love how Gmail has an excellent spam filter. But I noticed with Gmail on my iPhone, it doesn't sync properly with my Mac or my actual e-mail account.

For example, if I delete an e-mail from my iPhone, it will still be on my MacBook mail app. Just wondering if this is normal?

What kind of account is it? If it's a POP account then yes, it is normal.

If your going to set up Gmail I would recommend using google sync instead of the built in Gmail settings. Google sync uses an Exchange server and enables push mail (which is not supported by the regular gmail for some reason).

IMAP is enabled, but should I disable POP?

You have to delete your POP account on your phone and Mac and reenter it as IMAP. The enable/disable settings through the web interface wont do it.

If you select gmail on the phone, it will add it as IMAP, unless you specify POP settings.

There are some things that you can do on you Mac, that will make GMAIL, play better with the phone and web app.

If you follow all of the advice given you will probably notice that your Mac Mail will still lag behind your iPhone and Gmail webmail. Usually, quitting and restarting Mail will bring it up to speed.

It's for this reason that I have setup the Opera web browser to open to my Gmail accounts.
