I recently got gmail and use it exclusively to monitor all of my email accounts. I really like it and I enjoy the iOS app. It's simple and easy.

I've noticed that sometimes it won't fetch mails instantly. Like, if I launch the gmail app and pull down to refresh, it says it's retrieving messages. But if I check one of my accounts through normal means, there will be a message there that hasn't shown up yet in the gmail app.

I don't believe this happens if I access gmail on a desktop.

So, is there a way to force gmail to truly access your up to the minute mail? It's as if the "retrieving messages" is not really doing so. The message will eventually show up, but not in real time.

Thanks.

Ps: I would really like to use the gmail app. I'm not looking for alternative apps that will handle this yet.
