Google today updated its Gmail app for iOS to add support for Siri Shortcuts.

With Siri Shortcuts, Gmail users can create a shortcut that will allow them to send an email using a Siri voice command. Sending an email is the only capability that Google has included at this time.

Siri Shortcuts is a feature that Apple first introduced in iOS 12, so it has taken Google several months to implement support.

The shortcut for sending an email can be set up within the Settings section of the Gmail app or in the Shortcuts app. Gmail can be downloaded from the App Store for free. [Direct Link]

If one of the many reasons you choose Apple and are willing to overpay them for their hardware is because they don’t deal in your private information you’re doing yourself a huge disservice by having a Gmail account. Very little in life is actually free.

Google is all lies. My app is updated and doesn’t have this feature yet. I’m also in the no dark mode yet camp.

Can someone explain to me why Google says Dark Mode is “rolling out?” Dark Mode is a feature coded into iOS and, in my understanding, just requires developers to hook into the APIs. What is it that needs to “roll out” for this feature? Twitter and Instagram are two examples of apps with enormous user bases that just released a simple software update enabling dark mode, why can’t Gmail do the same thing?

Being retired, most of my mail is newsletters, offers, or confirmations of orders. So using Gmail seems prudent as far as free space goes. However, if I were just starting out in business life, I think I would stick to Apple mail, for its' privacy. And no, Gmail hasn't delivered that promised dark mode to my iPhone yet either. I gave up worrying about it and went with the Outlook app.

I have dark mode, but how about dark mode for all first? And the promised iOS Files app integration to attach files?

Gogole is all promises and no deliver. Just keep announcing useless features or some long rollout

Well it's a Google app so maybe they don't need to care as much about their iOS apps? Apple certainly doesn't care about supporting there apps through Google unless of course they're apps that make them money like Apple Music.

I mean you in theory could always switch to an Andriod phone for better support of Google apps.

Buying a device doesn’t dictate the services you use. How about you you use what you want and those of us that use (and some that need to use) Google services, will continue to do so, sound good?

****ing Christ a ton of you are insufferable on this site.

I am in agreement great wow Siri short cuts... GMAIL app 6.0.200126 but still there is NO Dark Mode support!!!!! WTF :mad::mad::mad::mad:

Insufferable is the perfect word I was looking for too.

I never said I use the app for any primary function (other than if search in another app fails the primary app is always the best especially Google), but apparently one cannot even make an innocent observation around here without getting jumped on by the Apple fangirls for unrelated topics or being told to go to Android. Insufferable is truly the word here.

And its cute you dont think Google makes money off iOS users. That must be some good fantasy land you have going on there. EVERYTHING google does is about trends and habits, to form algorithms etc for profit elsewhere like in search, even if they dont scan your email anymore for displaying ads.
