Gmail cut & paste box issue with Lion

why is it that every time i cut and paste in Gmail, whatever i copied gets a box border around it when pasted? this doesn't happen in Windows and i don't recall this being the case also when i used Leopard. how can i turn this off, as it's really annoying and serves no purpose.

Does this happen with all Web browsers?
Maybe switching from rich text editor to plain text editor in Gmail could fix the problem?

just safari it seems, as i have chrome canary installed also, and the issue is non existent on that.. but i love the full support of gestures on safari, so i'd like to find a fix on this. switching to plain text does relieve it, but that's a temporary fix and not convenient.
