Gmail, dropbox - no refresh

Recently my 3GS has been acting really weird, sometimes have no emails
showing up until I reboot - bam! all the emails from last few hours are there.
The same about dropbox, I use notesy, works great on my iPhone,
but doesn't update the dropbox so I don't have my notes updated outside
of iPhone. I know, AT&T s@cks, etc, but anything I can do until iPhone 5
is here?
