Gmail in Apple Mail App always shows in trash as unread after I read and trashed it from inbox

Hi guys,

My googling isn't coming up with anything. This is driving me nuts. Whenever gmail enters inbox, I read and then trash it, where the unread notification reappears. At the same time whenever I get an email into inbox, it either duplicated in (All mail or Trash - cant remember which one with the same unread notification).

Is this normal?

have you checked your gmail setting via gmail site?

I had to set it to "allow less secure apps" for it to work correctly.
But had issues with apple mail app and now use thunderbird, had zero issues since with gmail.

only have issues with hotmail, new rules and folder do not get applied.
I have to do it on the outlook site then it works in thunderbird too.

What is your Trash mailbox setting? Mine is [Gmail]/Bin and I don't get your problem
