Hi All

Gmail on Mac Mail now working thanks to the recent update.

Am not displaying 'ALL MAIL' in Imap and things seem hunky dory.

only problem left is the huge bite of HDD the mail folder is making on my MBA. Gmail tells me my folders take up 8.7GB, but the mail folder buried inside library/mail/V2/ is >20GB. Not sure what to do next.

Can no one help?

All i need to do is know how to reduce the size of my bloated Mac Mail folders.

Can I safely delete it?

Should I remove the account completely and start again?

please help..!!

D

You can safely delete everything and just start over since all the message are stored on GMail's servers.

One setting that will help you pare down the local storage is the one below in settings at gmail.com under the IMAP settings section.

the other thing besides the bloated disk footprint is that the activity monitor seems to indicate that Mail is constantly syncing with gmail at a fundamental level - almost a permanent resync. Im tried deleting my account a few times and recreating but it looks like its meant to work this way.

Go to Mail -> Window -> Activity Monitor to see why I mean.....
