I had occasion to delete a gmail account and then re-add it because of some issues I'd been having. I did a manual backup of Mail to be safe, and that caused me to have a peek at the Mail folder for the first time in a while.
First, does Yosemite Mail now put ALL gmails in the All Mail mailbox in ~/Library/V2/Mail/IMAP-email@gmail.com/[Gmail].mbox/All Mail.mbox? I have other mailboxes that correspond to the labels gmail uses, that have held actual emails in the past, but now although they are listed there they only contain a single plist. The emails "in" the gmail mailboxes in Mail (actually labels) show up correctly.
Second, if so, is this the correct default? It would seem to make sense since the gmail mailboxes are really just labels, sorta like albums in iPhoto. But I use some other applications to archive certain label gmails and now that won't work since the actual emails aren't "in" the label mailboxes.
Third, what's the V2 business? I have old email accounts in the Mail folder that have been deleted, even a previous iteration of the same gmail account. Did Mail start over and begin using V2 at some point?
thanks,
Rob
