Hello All,

I am trying to help my gf get her new iphone set up with her gmail account.
She currently has it set up with the preset "gmail" under the settings>mail.
She receives email and it works great however she does NOT want it to alter her web-access in any way other than marking it as read. Simple enough, I set it up as a POP account under settings>mail>other>POP and it accepts it fine ( I also adjusted the gmail settings from the computer by disabling IMAP and enabling POP and marking emails as read on the server). However, when I do this all her OLD emails that are in folders come to her phone but her newest emails never appear.

Any Ideas? Sorry if this seems confusing...

Summary:

~IMAP Gmail settings work fine.
~Want POP and leave server alone when delete off phone
~Set up POP and emails from 2009 appear at top with no recent emails
~Perplexed....😕😡

You need to use IMAP. A simple 5-minute investigation into the differences between POP and IMAP would have made this obvious.

I understand the difference between IMAP and POP...

I dont want them to sync with each other tho. I just want the ability to read and delete them from the phone without having it alter the server and what comes up when accessed from a computer..
