I'm trying to set up Gmail on my Touch, but everytime I get all the info put in, I get an alert saying:

Cannot Connect Using SSL
Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?

If I hit yes.... it just spins and spins. What is SSL? And, how do I fix this?

you know, i am having the exact same problem, but my ipod touch still hasn't been able to recognize my gmail account. did you do anything different when it finally worked?

I just deleted the account I had started the first time, and did it again. The first time I was at work, trying to do it thru our network there. The second time I was home and it worked. Not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Are you setting up IMAP or POP? I think that with firmware 2.0, Apple changed Gmail's default settings to automatically setup IMAP instead of POP, and in order to setup IMAP you must first enable it on your computer.
