Gmail problem

Anyone else having gmail problems.

Whenever i open gmail it freezes and there are a long line of chat icons and then I have to go to 'spaces' to a new screen and force safari to quit-

If I stay away from Gmail then safari is fine and I can also use gmail from another computer which seems really strange.


I can also access mail from apple mail without any problems.

Does anyone have any ideas what to do.

no, this is not a common problem. try resetting safari to see if clearing the cache helps. gmail uses ajax and javascript and this could just need to get fresh versions.

I'd try clearing the cache, cookies, ect from safari first.

Safari Menu > Reset Safari...

It's not causing any problems here, do as others have suggested above ^^^

Been using gmail in both Safari & Firefox for years on several Macs. Without any problems whatsoever.

Try resetting Safari. Or, if that doesn't help, download and run Maintenance or Onyx - http://www.titanium.free.fr/index_us.html

I have cleared the cache and deleted all cookies and checked settings but still no luck.

Same problem

I have the same problem...it started yesterday. I reset the settings and even reinstalled Safari. Didn't work.

I have been looking at some google forums and it appears that Chat usage has gone up recently and caused these problems.

By going to Safari-
preferences-
security-
and then turn java script off solves the problem at least short term.

I don't really know what java script does but it must do something relatively important!

I've got the same PROBLEM with my gmail chat chat chat chat chat chat chat...... Sucks, cause i was just getting use to using the video chat! Some Genius on here must figure this out, before it fixes itself!

this isn't a solution but, if you login to your igoogle account you can use your gmail through there and chat!

I've been using Chrome now and gmail is fine. But, I want to go back to usig Safari.

gmail access problem

I'm using safari 4.0.4 from SL 10.6.2. I'm having exactly the same problem. mail works fine with it, but I wanted to edit my contacts from safari. Ended up accomplishing that with firefox, opera also has no problem. this is from the same computer.
Safari acts exactly as you describe.
Safari has no problems anywhere else.

Tried clearing cache, resetting safari, turning off javascript - nothing worked. without javascript, it won't even load. Tried onyx, too. No luck.
