gmail: Push and search?

I was using gmail's exchange access to get push email for my gmail accounts on my iPhone. However, when you set up gmail accounts this way, then the search feature in mail cannot "Continue search on server..." for the gmail accounts.

Does anyone know of a solution (not a separate app that provides notifications, but a real solution) which allows gmail to push and search?

Currently there is no solution; it's a known issue with Google and 100% their fault. It's been this way for over a year now--woohoo for Google!

Now that you remind me, I think I'm going to turn push OFF for my Gmail account and go back to manual fetch.
