ok so on my iphone when i set up my gmail as an imap account, when i read and/or reply to a email on my phone it shows as read or replied to in thunderbird on my laptop.

but when i correctly set up gmail with push on my phone and reply to a email it does NOT show as replied in thursderbird.. is this the way its supposed to be?

it should not make a difference. I gave up on gmail push because it eats batteries. using mail notifier works better and does not eat the batteries.

so just to confirm - if i have G push on my iphone and i reply to a mail it should show as replied in Tbird?

- if not ? remedies?

also i have gmail as imap on my phone- do i need to totally delete that or can i just disable it?

sure push is only the way the mail is retrieved. it should not effect the way emails so replied and read. but sometiems thunderbird can be weird.
