(not sure the best subforum to put this in, so I'm parking it here)

Anybody else experiencing Gmail totally crapping the bed the past week or two with spam filtering? I've had stretches where it seems to work pretty well, but recently I'm getting bombarded with pretty obvious junk. Wondering if it's just my unfortunately short Gmail account name, or if it's a widespread issue.

No issues with my gmail account. Does a very good job tbh.

I suppose here is as good a place as any other more specific subforum. If Gmail is somehow using Gemini to "learn" how to filter what is or isn't spam, that may account for some lack of effectiveness? Otherwise, (similar to @Apple fanboy), no issues for me either. I don't know why a name of any length would matter?

Short or simple format addresses are a killer when it comes to Gmail spam.

But no anomalies here on my end.

By contrast, Apple's filters have been failing to catch fake prize and special offer emails for a few weeks. Bad streaks there occur more frequently and for longer.

Yeah, mine is my first initial and a last name that’s apparently not super uncommon. I’ve always got some spam issues, but lately it’s been missing some pretty obvious ones. Ah well.
