GMRS Walkie Talkie

I am looking for a pair of FRS/GMRS radios and was wondering if there are any recommendations. My criteria are:

1) ease of use
2) range
3) size
4) reliability/signal quality

price is not really an issue.

Well, the bigger the better, I guess. I have seen some models with 17 mile range. What are the tradeoffs?

The longer the range you will need an FCC license. I don't think you will need 17 miles for an FRS

Yeah, I figured that. Is that $75 for 5 years? No problem, really.

The main thing to know is how many people will be using them and what is the purpose, If it is hiking you might want more range but if it is just for car pooling or a trip to the mall you don't need as much.

It will be mostly for me, the mrs. and the kids to use at the mall, theme parks, etc. I guess we would need a range of about 5 miles max most of the time (the kids school is about 5 miles away over mostly flat terrain) but it would be nice to have a longer range, just in case.
