Does Safari see it as valid?

Mobile Safari sees my EVSSL (from Comodo though) as valid.

What's the url of the site where the SSL cert. is installed?

safari on osx : yes
safari on windows : yes
safari on ipad :no
safari on iphone :no

i think a root cert may be missing but i am not sure how to add it

yes i did, but for some reason, it does not get loaded by the iphone from the server. However installing it on the phone solves the problem.

This is rather normal especially if your cert provider has renewed/updated/added (new) thier intermediate/root recently. Updates for those will most likely be provided in the next version iOS.

Even Windows will have a Windows Update every now and then that is specifically for updating the root certificated stored in the cert store. In fact I make it a habbit to manually send out the latest update for the workstations at work every 6 months.
