So currently I am using a Buffalo MiniStation Thunderbolt W/ 256gb Samsung 840pro as a boot drive on my 2011 Imac, I have been noticing that my computer will reboot after long periods of not using it (24/48hrs). I was wondering will using a go flex desktop with that power adapter help fix my current situation? Also has anyone used a 3.5 - 2.5" hard drive adapter in the goflex desktop enclosure

It might help? I don't know.

I have an external LaCie Rugged 120 GB thunderbolt SSD (the big orange one) acting as my boot drive and this machine (27" i5, 680MX) has never unexpectedly rebooted or shut down.

I sometimes leave it on for weeks at a time without sleeping it, sometimes I reboot it every few days (depends how often I need to use Win7 natively via bootcamp).

So, it's not an issue with external booting from Thunderbolt - I would suspect that it is the drive enclosure you are using, but I can't be more specific I'm afraid.

I've switched over an had it happen once so far hopefully the new thunderbolt firmware cures this issue

I wonder if smart sleep (software program) is the culprit
