Hey.

I’m all Apple, and have everything Apple at home. I’m considering making my apartment a HomeKit enabled home and getting smart bulbs and HomeKit compatible devices, but I do rent out a room in my apartment to a roommate, who is not really into gadgets and tech.

How do I do this the best, without bothering her with remotes and apps, and still maintaining my options for a HomeKit enabled home?

Tips and tricks are welcome.

if you get smart switches, she can use the switch as normal, you can use smarts,
they're not hard to change out, but you need to have very basic electrical knowledge,
(I'm assuming it's all the same in Denmark as the US)

you can also get "smart buttons"
there are several options, (I have no experience with them, so you checking out online reviews will be as good as me)
just google "HomeKit buttons"

you can set those buttons up to play scenes, so she can access the lights using those.
or you can set them up to control individual lights, so she can use as a switch for the lamps.

If she has an iOS device (or you have a HomePod) and she is OK using Siri, once you share the house with her, it's pretty easy for her,
"turn off the living room lights"
or once you can set up scenes, she just has to remember the names.
