I was reading some crap about how the ipod classics use a different connector now instead of older ones...I have a Dynex dock I have used for my video Ipod to connect into my stereo and I have Altec Lansing iM7 speakers for the Video Ipod, would both of these work fine with a new iPod Classic? If not I may just hold onto the video iPod especially due to the fact I paid $140 for the iM7 speaker setup.....

Connector the same. New ones will only charge/sync via USB (not firewire).

The first 3 generations of iPods could use firewire. The first 2 generations of iPods could only use firewire. They even had a firewire port at the top of them, oppisite of the hold button.

I found my firewire 4-pin to 4-pin iPod firewire cable and my iPod firewire charger.
