Going from base config to highest base config for 200 dollars? Good deal?

I can upgrade from the base i5 with base everything for the 15" i7 with matte high res screen.

That would be a pretty good upgrade right? higher clock speed, more storage, higher resolution. On paper it seems like a no brainer. But is there anything less obvious I'm missing here? Everything seems obvious except the screen. Are the matte screens inferior in any ways? Is it less bright? Maybe inferior colors?

defective computer and a some smoke from the corner of the laptop later I got a new macbook pro. I asked if I can pay the difference to upgrade and to my surprise they said yes.

not a bad deal. I'd go for it, only thing you will be missing is a little bit of battery life.

For a minute there I thought you were talking about a deal like that on the Apple online store, no way. In your case, YES, GO FOR IT! Worth every penny of the upgrade.
