Going out in London

On Saturday night me and a group of friends (all students on our placement years) are going to go out for the first time since I moved to London. The thing is, I don't know any nice (and cheap to get in, see the student comment) clubs here.

I've been out in London before, but it was never organised by me and the clubs we went to seemed decidedly average (On Anon, for example, bland chain club)

Anyone know anywhere decent?

Why limit myself to an area? I live on the Northern line, and we can go anywhere.
