I'm new to mac, and I just got my MBP about 2 months ago. I keep reading online about how I need to do a power cycle each month to keep the battery fresh (I always have it plugged in and running on AC) and I'm wondering if it matters how fast I drain the battery for the cycle. Does it matter if I drain it really fast by watching a movie? Or does the battery not like to be drained quickly.

Thanks!

AFAIK, it doesn't matter how fast you discharge it. just make sure you leave it unplugged for 5 hours after your computer goes to forced sleep.

Why do I need to leave it unplugged for 5 hours? I don't want to COMPLETELY drain the battery. That is murder on Li-Ion batteries. I just want to do a simple power cycle.
