Yes I know is it was about 2 years ago but for tech, it’s an eternity. Why the hell did I upgrade to an XS and then to an 11 Pro for?! :)

Took this on a trip to Japan in Feb 2018.

I definitely have to agree. The iPhone X was my main (and only) camera that I had with me when my wife and I traveled to Europe two years ago. Although I still wish I brought my mirrorless camera, even to this day I'm amazed at the images I got with the X.

I agree. Whilst I do think the 11 is a big step forward in technical competence, the iPhone X was and still is plenty capable, such that the biggest differentiator at this point would be just the way you use it.
This photo has a bit of clipped highlights, which would’ve benefited from smartHDR. Still blows me away though, two years on.

Some awesome detail in that photo. Where was that at?

It’s shouldn’t be a shock it’s still good, it only came out in 2017. Just because the latest cameras are technically better, doesn’t mean the older cameras can’t capture a great picture. Nice pics btw.

You're right. In fact I looked at some photos I took with an iPhone 4 back in the day and they look pretty good compared to today's photos. Goes to show that it's not all in the hardware but how it's used.

We traveled around Italy for 2 weeks on that trip. Here's a random view from a street in a town called San Gimignano...shot with an Iphone X, of course!
Amazing. Puts into perspective how somewhat irrelevant to real life the big debate on 'how much better is the Xs camera quality compared to the X etc etc' that goes on around here.

I couldn't agree more. I'm currently using the 11 Pro and the camera is incredible, particularly the night photography. However, phone cameras from a few years ago have already been turning out impressive results. I took the attached photo with an iPhone 6s Plus during an impromptu trip to Washington, D.C. in the summer of 2017. Just goes to show you that a phone doesn't really need a multi-lens camera setup to capture good photos!
