Yup

It has 256 MB of built-in RAM so if you add the the 1 GB stick it will be a total of 1.25, and sure, you can sell the other 256 MB of RAM.

Yes, you will have to remove the 256 stick, and then you can insert your gig stick, for a total of 1.2GB.

I have 768 MB of memory, in mine right now. Furthermore, I use the 20-inch cinema display, so I regularly have lots of applications and widgets open. It runs very smoothly. Photoshop, iMovie, and Garageband are fine too, but I wouldn't run those at the same time probably.

I'm holding back on upgrading to more memory, until I decide, if I'm getting another Mac. 768 makes it a very capable machine. However, you will notice the difference, if you put the gig stick in there.

I've got 1.25GB in my Powerbook and it runs very smoothly. It wasn't until gettiny my old iMac ready for sale I remembered how many times I got the coloured ball on that machine. The Powerbook now runs beautifully. Get as much RAM as you can afford.

Hey AJ Muni, if you don't mind me asking, why are you getting a PowerBook? You won't notice a major difference between the iBook in your signature and the new Mac IMO. :)

If you don't mind me asking, but why are you getting a 12" PowerBook when you have a 1.2GHz 12" iBook already? Unless you are going to wait for a PowerBook upgrade and get a 1.6Ghz 4778 with a 64MB Radeon 9700 or whatever it comes with.

Sorry, just testing the echo. ;)

It is coming through just as clear in New York as it is in Australia. Long live the well-deserved echo effect. I agree with the earlier poster's sentiment.
