I'd like to buy it from Best Buy but it doesn't appear that I can get the memory upgraded from best buy... Amazon didn't offer an 8gb model as far as I could tell. So to get a 8gb model I'd need to order direct from apple, or maybe macmall? Can someone clarify for me?

One other thing. So suppose I buy the 4gb model. I know it's not user upgradeable but can the memory be expanded to 8gb after the fact at all? I know this would entail spending a fair amount of money at Apple to do so but I'm just exploring my options. Ditto updating the SSD?

Thanks.

Memory is soldered directly onto the logic board AFAIK, so it would not be upgradable without some serious work and chance of destroying the system. Best to go with the Apple store, with the education discount if you're a student.

Damn slow typing in the morning!! beat me by just a hair.

Ok that clears things up, I appreciate your replies. I'll just go through Apple then.
