Hi, the silent/ringer switch has broken off my 3G, and the O2 shop wanted to send it away and said I'd 'hopefully' get it back in about 7 days, which isn't really acceptable. So, I called the Apple store in Glasgow, and they said to make a genius bar appointment and, possibly, I could get a new phone in my hand there and then! Great!

But, it seems they are still in short supply, so what are the chances of them actually having one to give me? It's over an hour away from where I live, so I'd be pretty annoyed if I went all that way and couldn't get a replacement! Do the replacements come from normal stock, and do they have a separate supply just the phones (no box) to give as replacements?

Would I need to return the box and packaging etc with it?
Do I need my proof of purchase and other stuff I got when I bought it?
I know I can only book a genius bar appointment up to 72 hours before, how easy is it to get an appointment? Do they get booked out as soon as they are available?

Thanks
